This second-generation Camaro features the Rally Sport and Super Sport combination, denoted by its distinctive split bumper front end and a suite of mechanical attributes that support its SS350 heritage.
Powering this Camaro is a 350 CID V8 engine backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. While the original motor is no longer present, this car retains a Chevrolet Dealer-installed 350 cubic inch -installed in 1978. The engine features factory-style specifications including 4-bolt mains, 1.94 intake heads, and an aluminum intake manifold. It was balanced and blueprinted during a rebuild in 2003, and is currently fitted with a Victor Jr Air Gap intake, Holley 600 double pumper carburetor, Milodon 6-quart oil pan, and supported by a Be Cool Radiator system with direct-fit fans.
The vehicle’s drivetrain components help verify its SS350 origin. The Muncie 4-speed manual transmission is a date-code correct unit with a 3952659WB tag, specific to SS350 models. This transmission has been rebuilt with a Super Case and is connected to a factory original Hurst shifter. The rear end is a factory 12-bolt unit with stampings that decode to a COU 3.31 gear ratio, appropriate for a 1970 SS350 without positraction. The rear has been upgraded with new axles and 3.73 Posi gears.
Suspension and braking enhancements include QA-1 adjustable shocks (front and 16-position rear), Wildwood D52 front disc rotors, MasterPower rear disc conversion, and slotted and drilled rotors on all four corners. A vacuum brake booster canister has also been added for increased braking assistance.
This Camaro rides on a powder-coated chassis with silver powder-coated A-arms and features upgrades such as Corvette steering ratios with 2.0 turns lock-to-lock and a Momo carbon fiber steering wheel. It has been refinished with original sheet metal on the floor pans, door skins, and left front fender, while the right fender and both quarter panels were replaced with GM parts in 2003.
Interior appointments include air conditioning, power windows (Nu-Relics conversion), power locks, seatbelts, a tilt steering column, and a GPS speedometer. The upholstery, carpet, and interior panels have been replaced, contributing to a clean and cohesive cabin presentation.
